About Me

Michael has worked in the mental health field since 1995 where he worked with children and families at Brewer Porch Children’s Center in Tuscaloosa, Al. Michael earned his Master of Counseling in 2000 from Covenant Theological Seminary, and his Master of Divinity in 2002. He has enjoyed serving as a pastor in several local churches for over twenty years. In these churches, Michael has regularly taught classes, provided crisis counseling, lead small groups, and participated in community service over the years. Michael and his wife have also had the privilege of helping start several church based counseling centers across the country over the years. In St. Louis, MO, Michael and Sherry were able to help found New Hope Counseling Services in 2000, where he served as director from 2005-2015, and Karis Counseling Services, in Hendersonville, NC in 2015, where he currently serves as Clinical Director. As a pastor and counselor, Michael has worked with a wide range of issues including marriage, family, anxiety, depression, conflict resolution, emotional, sexual and physical abuse, sexual addiction, and ministry leadership challenges. Michael sees it as a privilege to walk alongside people journeying toward hope and healing. He and his wife Sherry, have four kids and live in Hendersonville, NC in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
